Lancelot Merivale Gibbs

L.M Gibbs was born on 23 December 1889, the youngest son of Anthony Gibbs, MA, JP, DL.

He was ducated at Eton and entered the army after serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion (1st Somerset Miliitia) of the Somerset Light Infantry from 1908 to 1910.

Gazetted 2nd Lieutieutenant, Coldstream Guards on 7 December 10.

Promoted Lieutenant, 19 July 1913.

Promoted Captain, 17 July 1915.

2nd Battalion adjutant 16 march 1915 - 21 April1916

CO 2nd Grenadier Guards 25 November 1916 to 8 March 1917.

GSO3 26/2-3/5/18 & Brig-Maj Guards Division from 4/5/18.

Once wounded.

Four times mentioned in despatches.
